Pilot Program Helps Customers with Electrically Heated Homes Manage Electricity Costs

CustomerFirst successfully designed and implemented the Home Energy Assessment and Retrofit Pilot Program to help customers with electric baseboard heating improve the efficiency of their homes and better manage their electricity bills.

Over 800 people from Greater Sudbury, West Nipissing, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, St. Thomas, Newmarket, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and Kapuskasing received:

  • A free in-home energy assessment and detailed report with projected electricity savings and conservation tips.
  • Installation of energy efficient equipment, such as programmable thermostats, advanced power bars, LED light bulbs, electric water heater blankets, block heater timers, low flow showerheads and pipe wrap.

The program launched in the fall of 2016 and concluded in the spring of 2017, achieving 436,485 kilowatt hours of electricity savings.  The program was a huge success with participants reporting a high degree of satisfaction with the energy efficient equipment installed as well as the knowledge they gained from the assessor and home energy assessment report.
